NE Washington Wedding Expo Draws Crowd

We may be clawing our way out of the depths of winter, but we’ve certainly got June on the brain. For the fourth year in a row, the Northeast Washington Wedding & Event expo drew crowds from all over the tri-county area. Packing out the Ag Trade Center at the Stevens County Fairground, exhibitors ranging from rustic honeymoon get-away locations to household products had a chance to show their offerings to a steady stream of traffic on Saturday, February 21. The expo featured live music provided by Sara Brown and her trusty guitar, and a fashion show sponsored by Reflections utilized local high school students as models. Jagged Edge Salon stepped in to provide hair styling and Safeway Floral fashioned bouquets, boutonnieres and corsages. Expo attendees got a glimpse of the variety of formal attire for men and women that are available in the area, along with an assortment of businesses that offer wedding and event coordination across the spectrum of style and budget. Multiple bakeries, including Heather’s Custom Cakes, owned and operated by Heather Moffit, showcased wedding cakes and other delectables. Local caterers offered guests samples of popular appetizers, and scenic locations for weddings and other events were on hand to provide a glimpse of what our area has to offer.

Moffit, the coordinator of the expo for the last two years, says that more than 80 brides visited the expo last year and this year was even busier. Several vendors offered brides and other visitors a complete package – decorating, coordinating and planning the event from the ground up. The expo offered a remarkable number of options for decorators, site locations, music DJs and food caterers on hand to talk to. Product samples for weight-loss plans, beauty regimes, and the ever-faithful Tupperware line were on hand to help brides-to-be get ready for their big day and their new life. Many local businesses were given a chance to meet and greet the community in a relaxed and fun setting.

Next year, the Northeast Washington Wedding & Event Expo will be held on Saturday, February 20th at the Ag Trade center.
